Significant appointments within Underwriting and Distribution and Development

Fortis (Insurance, UK) announces three significant appointments within its Underwriting and Distribution and Development teams, driving forward its innovative product development and broker distribution strategy.

Mike Ketteringham has been appointed Head of Underwriting Development, and will be concentrating on the growth of Personal Lines Underwriting. Mike will report directly to Adam Clarke, Director of Underwriting, who joined Fortis in December 2007. Mike has extensive experience in the Insurance sector from both Churchill and RBS Group.

Stephen Linklater has been appointed as Head of Household Underwriting, responsible for the profitable growth and development of the Fortis Household account, which earlier this year added a new mid-net worth proposition to its suite of products. Stephen joins from Hastings Direct where he was responsible for the Household account and has previously held various underwriting roles at RSA. Adam Clarke commented,

“We are delighted that Mike and Stephen have joined the Underwriting team and look forward to the wealth of experience and expertise that they will bring to the company. These appointments demonstrate our commitment to further developing our Personal Lines propositions to meet our customers’ needs.”

Fortis has also appointed Mark Auchterlonie as Commercial Business Development Manager, reporting to Chris Dobson, Distribution & Development Director. Mark joins Fortis from Norwich Union, where he held a variety of roles, most recently as Head of Trading UK, and prior to that, Head of Motor Partnerships. His appointment will support Fortis’ plans to significantly grow the commercial side of the business, transforming its product and distribution capability. Chris Dobson said of the appointment,

“We are confident that Mark’s experience in the sector and fresh outlook will be invaluable to the development of our commercial business, supporting the programme to broaden the Fortis commercial product range combined with the development of existing and new distribution channels centred on the broker market.”
