AMERICAN EXPRESS AND DESIGNER DIANE VON FURSTENBERG PRESENT RUNWAY SHOW UNLIKE ANY OTHER, EXCLUSIVELY FOR CARDMEMBERS UNDER THE TENTS AT BRYANT PARK

Hosted by André Leon Talley, Event Invitations Now On Sale to Private Runway Show

American Express is partnering with acclaimed fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg to present a unique runway show for fellow American Express® Cardmembers on Wednesday, February 18 at 9:00 PM during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Von Furstenberg is taking a new, never-been-done before approach to the runway and creating an opportunity for Cardmembers to experience a multi-season selection of her sought-after designs. Hosted by André Leon Talley, editor-at-large for Vogue magazine, the event will provide access to the coveted floor seats under the tents to view designs inspired by von Furstenberg’s Spring/Summer 2009 ‘Rock Goddess’ Collection and a special look at some of her Fall 2009 Collection shown only to industry insiders just days before. Invitations to this memorable event are on sale at www.americanexpress.com/entertainment.(1)

“As a designer, it is very gratifying to share my design inspirations and engage directly with customers,” said Diane von Furstenberg. “Through my partnership with American Express, I can provide Cardmembers with a look behind the curtain — how a collection is made, how the runway impacts next season’s inventory, how pieces may be paired — both bringing them closer to my creative process and encouraging them to re-imagine their wardrobe.”

American Express will donate proceeds from the sale of event invitations as part of its $250,000 donation to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund (CVFF), a program (of the CFDA) to help emerging American designers succeed in the business of fashion by providing ongoing support.

Cardmembers will be treated to an unforgettable evening that will begin with an on-stage dialogue between von Furstenberg and André Leon Talley discussing her inspirations and the business choices that brought her creative vision to the retail floor, followed by a one-of-kind runway show featuring three-seasons of design.

“Our Cardmembers love Diane von Furstenberg and at this show they will experience the magic of sitting in the floor seats, watching a truly unique multi-season show and hearing directly from a true icon about her fashion insights and inspirations,” said Jessica Igoe, Director of Global Sponsorship Marketing at American Express. “This one-of-a-kind experience with Diane brings together the excitement of a live runway show with the opportunity to see how the upcoming season’s looks can go straight from the runway into their own wardrobe.”

American Express previously featured Diane von Furstenberg in the company’s “Are you a Cardmember®?” campaign which features extraordinary Cardmembers telling their stories, while illustrating what it means to be an American Express Cardmember. The national campaign revealed how, through fashion, von Furstenberg became the woman she wanted to be and that her role in fashion is to make women feel more confident.
