Western Union’s Our World, Our FamilySMProgram Receives National Recognition

Western Union and their cause branding agency, Cone Inc., took home the highly-coveted PR News award for outstanding Stakeholder Engagement today. Western Union and several other corporate leaders were recognized at an event held at the National Press Club in Washington D.C., where companies were lauded for both the execution and the communication of successful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. “This year’s winners have redefined Corporate Social Responsibility, particularly PR’s role in CSR,” said Jens Bang, President and CEO of Cone. “Western Union and Cone have executed an outstanding program, Our World, Our Family, and are reaping the benefits in terms of reputation, market share, mind share and global good deeds.” As a winner in the Stakeholder Engagement category, Western Union and Cone demonstrated successful ways to enlist Western Union employees, Agents, customers and new strategic partners in Western Union’s Our World, Our Familysm Program. The initiative addresses the root causes of poverty through efforts such as job creation and education.
