The 40-bed home, located off Wordsworth Street, has been redecorated with carpets, curtains and furniture as well as new plasma televisions in the lounge area. The refurbishment has proved a real hit for the residents and their families as well as all the staff at the care home. It is part of Bupa Care Service’s multi-million pound investment in the UK care homes sector, to help improve the standard of care for older people.

Home manager, Denise Shearer, said: “The refurbishment has really brightened up the home, making it even more warm and welcoming. There’s a lot of history and affection attached to Croft Avenue. The actual building was built in 1792 and has long since been a central part of our community - and we have one of the most spectacular views across town! We hope as many people as possible will join us to celebrate the new look and enjoy the historic surroundings.’
